HLTAID001 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Develop CPR response skills in a nationally accredited course

This Nationally Recognised Training Unit covers the skills and knowledge required to provide emergency first aid response, life support and management of the casualty until medical assistance arrives.

The session will help participants build skills in the following areas;

  • understanding the principles of First Aid and the responsibilities of the first aider
  • legal and ethical issues
  • infection control
  • demonstrate steps of the DRSABCD Action Plan
  • show skills in sharing for an unconscious casualty
  • perform CPR (on both an adult and infant manikin)
  • use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

As part of the course, students will also undertake a two part assessment process in the classroom where they will complete a theory questionnaire and practical demonstration of skills.

On being assessed competent, students are issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised Unit of Competency, HLTAID001 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

Important considerations

The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) www.resus.org.au recommends the CPR competency be recertified annually.

Learners must also provide to the CHG Training Unit their USI (Unique Student Identifier) before they can receive their Statement of Attainment. Create your USI or find out more at www.usi.gov.au
