Create workplace awareness about mental health illnesses

Recognising and appropriately responding to depression, anxiety and other mental health problems in the workplace can effectively reduce the possible negative impacts these issues have for individuals, teams and the organisation.

To help, CHG offer training to create awareness about mental health illnesses and particularly how they relate to the workplace.

This short course provides participants with a basic understanding of mental illness and introduces the principles of Mental Health First Aid.  Participants will learn:

  • Key basics of what is mental illness
  • Fundamentals of what is meant by ‘Mental Health First Aid’ and its role in the workplace
  • Practical application of Mental Health First Aid for:
    • Depression
    • Anxiety
    • Substance abuse
    • Suicidal ideation
  • Fundamentals of understanding risk factors
  • How to identify warning signs

Supplementary training for managers and supervisors is also available. Training topics can include:

  • Understanding the impact of mental health problems in the workplace
  • How to identify the ways in which stress impacts people
  • Common factors that may be triggers
  • How to manage individuals experiencing mental health issues

All training is delivered by an experienced professional with knowledge across many types of workplaces. Trainers have extensive experience in the field of psychology, counselling, mental health first aid and/or critical incidents. Training can be further structured to suit your industry, worksite and objectives.
